So the other day, i come home and my computer's at one of the start screens (before booting) and the error says "NTLDR not found" which means it's trying to boot from a non-bootable source. So, I go thru and do a low-level format of my HD (after tons of trying other possible solutions) and the end result is that my MoBo will recognize the HD (it's kinda old, btw), but windows xp installer won't... is this just a HD problem? (i have a new 160 gig seagate on the way)
    thx

You should have been able to load the recovery console and use the fixboot command to fix your problem.

I imagine the hard drive is IDE? Windows XP cannot find the drive when you go to inatall it? I'd at least check the cables on the drive.

update (in case anyone cares), I got my new seagate 160 gig HD in the mail yesterday, plugged it in, and installed windows on it. I guess the HD was the problem afterall
