I'd like for them to include features in the next service pack.

Fix the file I/O issues!! That is really my biggest beef with MS over Vista. BTW the same issue is present in Longhorn Server too so I imagine that will get fixed in the next few months on both platforms anyway.

And maybe some new wallpaper. Like one of some Microsoft goons beating the nVidia driver developers with sticks for not getting their f'ing drivers fixed already...

If system manufacturers didn't shove it down consumers throats when buying a new machine, Vista would fail miserably.

Get this: A *supplier* emails me today to tell me that due to their recent change to Vista their online ordering system would no longer support IE6.

It doesn't make any sense to me how one could effect the other. I have no clue why their internal changes are now effecting my process.

Smack some sense into me before I respond with: "We do not have the resources to manually place orders by phone. We have do not have plans to implement IE7 at this time. Please advise me of the date of this change so I can plan accordingly."

It sounded very unprofessional to me and we're having ongoing prob's with these guys that have been my 'fault' internally (cause external and beyond my control). I sent it to the bossman to fluff and send. :noes:

Allow me to select which folders get backed up, and allow backup to tape. I have to dual boot with XP so I can run regular backups of all my shit.

Once you disable all that warning bullshit and remove the usual Norton shit that ships with the new machines it's actually not half bad. Looks nice . . that's for sure. :big grin:

I'm still looking for a reason to load this to a partition other than 'it looks nice' and 'I should get familiar with it before it's prevalent'.

    Anyone?

I dual boot both computers just because.....
    Seriously. I got nothing.

Dual boot so that it is there if you decide to play with it.
It really isn't that great of a product.

Wow. Considering that using Windows 2000 or XP for more than 5 minutes makes me want to kill something, trying Vista might actually be harmful to the people around me ;).

Maybe I'll make a virtual machine and load Vista from my company's Action Pack DVD, just so I can see if it sucks as much as others have said.

(when I tried to dual boot it, it killed my boot sector and I had to completely reformat. I was pissed.)

    • WinFS - would be nice
    • Kill DRM - wont happen
    • Kill the Sidebar - turn it off....
    • Kill UAC, and create better Access Controls (a la Unix) - turn it off....
    • Better reliability!!! - it seems pretty "reliable" to me...
Whats the deal with the 8800 drivers? Im about to upgrade to Vista on my main rig, and I got that video card. Buying a 2nd soon....

I dont game much, I just want quad displays...

Their drivers still suck, even the WHQL release. For some reason they are having tons of problems getting a solid, complete driver out the door (A problem Intel and ATI didn't have)

I like it a lot. I do agree the File I/O needs to be improved, but that's about it.
