Anybody own one of these? I am considering one for my next car, so I would like some input on them. How reliable is the 3.9l V8, how much power do they put out, hows the drivetrain, any known issues, or anything I should be warry of, etc.
The thing I like the most about it is that it's a luxery car, V8, rwd, super comfortable, and it's within my price range. Plus they look pretty dam

So what can you tell me?

    I'd drive one...
I can't tell you shit about it. . 'cept it has derivitive styling, which works nicely. . a decent interior, and is nicely balanced.

Only thing new about the car was the platform. Otherwise the engine & tranny come from the typical line of Ford cars.

How much are they going for used now? I like them too. Very clean looking.

That doesn't really tell me how reliable they are and what not. I'm not really up on all of Fords motors. :sad2:
Just debating what I should do, I can get a loaded 03 Grand Prix GT with 20k miles for the same price as the 2000 LS with 78k. Just woondering if the luxery/V8 rwd and everything make it worth getting a higher mileage vehicle over something newer/lower mileage. They're just so dam nice

Good cars. Resale sucks, but that's why you can afford one.

The early ones have reliability issues. I had a customer with one and she only kept it 18 months. She loved the acceleration but she was having a lot of problems with it.

I was being honest. For the price, it's a great deal. Don't expect a whole lot of power, but good enough for a big sedan. You'll be happy with it.
I'd recommend an 02-03 Maxima instead.

I feel the same way. . I'd trust Nissan more than Ford. .
    BUT. .

the Maxima is wrong wheel drive.

Yet is still faster and handles better than the LS. Also has more potential.

I like lincolns. I want to get an LS soon, they are great cars. Grand Prix is not a luxury car, I couldn't stand it. I will drive 400 miles a week, usually more, and I can't stand doing it in something that doesn't ride nice. I had a Town Car for a while, that thing was like a living room on wheels.

They have one of the worst resale values on the market but that is a good thing for people who buy them used. They are good looking and comfortable cars. I say get one if you like it.

buddy of mine had one (family car) in high school and was pulling into the school parking lot one morning and the entire wheel/rim/rotor/etc just fell off

not like someone forgot to tighten some lig nuts, something cracked and the whole shebang fell off
