There is a slight possibility I might be getting a Mac G4 (350MHz, 384 MB of RAM) for free from work

It would come with an Apple Pro keyboard, but that's it. It already has Mac OS X preloaded on it

so what are some things I can use it for, besides the basic web/e-mail?

It's biggest use will be a gateway drug to the Apple fix the rest of us have encountered. There is no cure for this addiction.

    I'm already an addict

    iBook G4 1.0 GHz

I was thinking of using it as a file server to store all of my movies, and would like to output the display to my TV using an S-video of sorts.

I just upgraded it to 768 MB of RAM using some RAM that was lying around the lab :big grin:

Or you could sell it on eBay. You might not get lots of money for it but at least you are getting it for free.

music server, videos, ftp/ssh/web (and you know you want to use myPhoto for photo sharing :o ), maybe get a TV input kind of setup going on so you could have a PVR of sorts (I think eyeTV is what the product is called...)....

add a second biggie sized hard drive and make it a file/web server.
