Im currently DEPing for the marine corps reserve as I have 2-3 years of schooling left before i get my bachelor's in criminal justice. I joined the reserve since i wanted to finish taht shit up and then try to get a commissioned officer slot. Im going in as a field radio operator since its one of the more technical jobs around the area and being a ch46 chopper mechanic didnt exactly appeal to me.

im having second thoughts about just going reserves though so any insight from you guys would be great.

well i was limited by the available jobs in the area as I am joining the reserves.

I was thinking Air Traffic Controller would've been an awesome job if i went active

A 97 on the ASVAB gives you a wide open door for job selection. Although since you are going into the Reserves, you will also be limited in distance to your reserve unit from your home. The longer a distance you are willing to drive for your reserve weekends, the more options you will have for jobs. Assuming that an opening exists for the job you are wanting.

your asvab is meaningless. like king said above, reserve contracts are different. move to a different area if you want to do something else.

radio op is an easy job, you spend a couple weeks learning how to pop in and pop out a battery.
