i currently work out 4-6 days a week for about an hour and a half per day alternating between chest, arms, and legs and doing abs and cardio every day. i've been doign this for months now and my metabolism just wont seem to speed up. i still have fat around my midsection that won't go away even though i have a 6-pack under it. i've heard that some of the following might help:
    drinking lots of water
drinking green tea/taking green tea pills
eating many small meals throughout the day (this is hard with the school meal plan)
    etc

i'm really against taking stuff like hydroxycut and creatine and all that stuff that my body could get dependent on or that could have negative effects on my body, i'm just curious if you guys know of any other things i could try out.

it really varies. i usually eat a good breakfast and a smaller lunch and then a decent dinner. i have a protein shake after i work out and sometimes when im up late doing whatever i might have some cereal or oatmeal to fill me up.

Definitely the multiple smaller meals would make a difference (i.e. 6 smaller sized meals, ~350,400cal if you're cutting - instead of 3 squared meals)..

Green tea supps might help. I take Green Tea.. if for nothing else, its a great supplement for its immune system benefits alone..

aside from a few select (and illegal) drugs, not much is going to change your metabolism. You're going to have to work with what you've been genetically given. if you want to lose more fat, you'll have to either eat less, burn more calories, or a combination of both.

Lifting weight raises the metabolism for a certain amount of time (24h?), gaining muscles will raise the metabolism, doing HIIT raises the metabolism, a higher protein intake raises energy expenditure, a high fat intake might also have a metabolic advantage... There are plenty of things to do.

sure, lifting weights and HIIT temporarily increase metabolism by producing greater EPOC. That's a temporary effect and it's relative to whatever your base metabolic rate happens to be. I would put this under the category of "doing something to burn more calories" rather than working on increasing your metabolism. You don't choose to do these things because they are going to boost your metabolism, you do them because they are the most efficient ways to burn the maximum amount of calories.

    You are retarded.

It is a well known FACT that eating 3 square meals per day will slow your metabolism down and eating several smaller meals throughout the day will keep your metabolism going and the fire burning, post any god damn study you want, because for every one you post there are a hundred others that show otherwise. I am fucking living god damn proof of it and I honestly can't believe some twit on F&N is spewing such incredible bullshit.

I guess it's one of those FACTS that's hard to prove with research, huh?

    first try

"Smaller, more frequent meals keeps your blood sugar stable and provides a steady source of energy to fuel metabolism."

    2nd try

"Eat smaller, more frequent meals. Instead of three meals per day, try eating five or six smaller meals. By eating more frequently, there will be less time between your meals, and less chance of you experiencing such intense hunger. As an extra benefit, there is some evidence that suggests that eating more frequently can also help raise your metabolism."

you fucking idiots an your studies...
