I have a Rio Karma 20gb player whose scroll wheel I broke, so instead of selling it for $50 I want to know if anyone out there knows any way to make this thing into an external hard drive that's plug and play. I'll sacrifice the music function I don't need it for that anymore i'd just like to turn it into an external harddrive. I looked into RioRad explorer but that's a program that needs to be installed on the computer for it to work. Thanks for the help if anyone offers any

I know there was a write-up on how to install linux on a karma. Another guy tore into his and changed the splash start up screen. The pics showed the karma's HD uses a laptop IDE cable.

    Maybe that will help you??

I've never used one, but does the device show up as a drive in My Computer when you plug it in?

I have an Ipod that has a broken screen, but my computer still recognizes it so I can use it as a spare 4 gig hard drive.
