to try and get them to mention clearcheckbook.com?

I sent out emails to Lifehacker.com, Mashable.com, Compiler on wired.com and a few others that I can't think of right now.

Not having any luck getting anything written :(

I was hoping that with the new iphone portal being posted on Apple, that would give me a little more of a chance, but apparently not.

I've tried TechCrunch multiple times but they're a bunch of faggots and only talk about myspace and facebook and companies that suck off Michael Arrington.

    Any ideas?

You should contact PaulStatmatiou.com. It seems like his blog is quite popular and over the last few months he has been mentioning startup internet companies quite a bit. You should also try contacting Weblogs Inc. Your site seems like the kind of thing they would write about in Engadget Mobile or their Apple Blog.

Yeah, but they mentioned it in an article with like 10 other sites saying, "see, we get a bunch of submissions each day... like psg.com!!1"

    :o

But still, I bet it brought a ton of traffic to your site :wtc:

personally I think those sites are useless...sure you'll get a few new accounts, but it'll be other tech geeks logging in to steal your ideas

a better bet would be to try to make front page of reddit/digg

    More like:

We got this awesome new tech startup specializing in cut-outs. This is revolutionary and will sweep the nation by storm. :big grin:

I'll hit you up with a link sometime when I get home about some guy who submits your site to a bunch of SEO-friendly directories for cheap.

Unless TC or another reputable tech site covers it, it's highly unlikely that a story like that will make it to the front page w/o getting classified as spam.

Lies. I've had my stuff mentioned on TechCrunsh, LifeHacker, etc. and it was a smaller deal than his stuff.

Send me the literature you're sending these guys man; let me see if I can help you with it, if it needs helping at all.

TC gets very few diggs anyways. I think you can still make front page, even with a no-name site. I had like 5 things get front paged with a blog talking about nothing

This is what I just sent to that PaulStamatiou.com site:

I change each one that gets sent, but they all have that same basic info (minus the first paragraph)

I'm no expert at writing business emails, but if I received something like that I would probably delete it without giving it too much thought. I think in this situation you really need to do a little bit of research and write something that you think your recipient is going to be interested in and not just write two sentences and then a boilerplate letter, if you want to get a positive response from them. I would have mentioned that you notice that he has been working on his own web application and that you are both at similar stages in the product where you have just released it and are trying to start buzz about it. Then Mention briefly what your app is about, then invite him to take some time to poke around it it and finish with a sentence inviting him to email you back if he has any questions about it or wants to talk about designing web apps in general.

But thats just my two cents.

It's not personal enough. Try something like...

People get pitched to all the time. You don't want to pitch your product unless someone asks for it. Keep it personable and friend-to-friend. If they aren't approachable as a friend, do something to make it that way.

Thanks for the advice. I've tried all sorts of methods to contact people and nothing seems to have worked so far. I've sent messages like the one you gave, kinda like an "anonymous tipster" all the way to well thought out informataive messages and none seem to really make much of a difference.

I wish I had the money to hire someone to do this shit for me :o
