I was considering this 5.1 Onkyo TX-SR500 reciever at its $299 price. Ive been doing some research on recievers that cap out at $299, and ive heard that pretty much nothing out there will beat it for the price. I know there are other recievers out there like Sony, Pioneer, etc, that have maybe one or two more features but usually sacrifice sound quality, THD, etc...

Anyone know or have experience on that new 299 Denon 5.1 reciever?

What other reciever for 299 will beat out the onkyo, sound quality wise, quality,etc......?

Id buy the Onkyo, looks good. Another brand to look at is Yamaha, or Denon.

Onkyo Tx-501 is a great deal. There is no better in its price class.

Sherwood RD-6108. Outpost has it on backorder for $79.99 + S&H. Can be had at other places, all for under $200.

Great sound quality (Shut up LOUDSYSTEM), but no S-Video or Component video switching.
