what are you supposed to do first... bulk... or cut...

    It depends on a lot of factors. But a few people recommend cutting down before bulking up. If your body fat is in a certain range, then your body is more apt to putting on lean mass as opposed to fat in a caloric surplus.

    care to elaborate on the fat range which would be more apt to putting on lean mass (im pretty lean, so im just wondering)

    12-15? 10-13? Christophers would have better memory than me. I read it in a Lyle article and a Berardi article.

    I'd say it depends on what condition you are in when you start.

    Obese, cut first. Health takes priority.

    What are your goals and where are you starting from?

    So if you have less then 10% bf then you should concentrate on putting on lean mass and not bulking?

    bulking is putting on lean mass. because of the surplus of calories you have to take in, you will gain some fat though eating relatively cleanly will help minimize that
