Janet Jackson - New Agenda [from her CD, Janet.]

    New Agenda

    Chuck D's Intro:
It ain't nothin but an us thang
And it's time for us to step it up and respect
    That level of sisterhood
That's been holding up our neighborhood
And if it wasn't for our mothers
    There would be no brothers
And if it wasn't for our sisters
    There would be no misters
So it ain't nothin but a us thang
    She's strong and that's a fact
Now it's time for us to take up the slack
Step it up, step it up, time to go to work

    History hidden from me
    To hide my identity
    So I'd never feel
    I am somebody

    You've gouged my eyes
    I see more clearly
    You've tried to rob
    My humanity

My spirit you tried to break
My soul you tried to take
There's no need to be afraid
Cause I won't do unto you now

    CHORUS:

    Amen
    All that we've been through
Our time has come to rejoice
    A new agenda's due
    Amen
It's time to know the truth
Our time has come to rejoice
    A new agenda's due

    (no no)
    Because of my gender
    (no)
I've heard no too many times
    Because of my race
I've heard no too many times
    But with every no
    I grow in strenght
    That is why
    African-American woman
    I stand tall with pride

You want to know what it takes
To rid yourself of me now
    There's nothing you can do
Accept me for who I am now

    CHORUS

    Chuck D's Rap:
Time to step it up, step it up
    Better check yourself
I get vexed to protect what we got
    Left her alone
    Lookin for your own
Here it is I know what I'm sayin
But the klan ain't playin at the range
Gotta step it up us to discuss a must
It ain't nothin but an us thang
    Rewind back to the time
Where the color of our mother
Had 'em call it a crime
    Brother what in the world?
And the world says where is the black man
    Support the woman and children
Time to step it up, step it up, it's playoff time
And the rhyme go to check, so check yourself

    Amen
    A new agenda's due

    CHORUS (2x)

    Oh you nasty boys

I don't like no nasty car, I don't like a nasty food, huh
    Ooh ooh yeah
The only nasty thing I like is the nasty groove, huh
    Will this one do?
    Uh huh, I know

    Nasty
Nasty boys, don't mean a thing, huh
    Oh you nasty boys
    Nasty
Nasty boys, don't ever change, huh
    Oh you nasty boys
    Nasty
Nasty boys, give me your nasty groove, huh
    Oh you nasty boys
    Nasty
Nasty boys, let me see your nasty body move, huh
    Oh you nasty boys

I could learn to like this
    Listen up.

    I'm not a prude (no)
I just want some respect (that's right)
So close the door if you want me to respond (ooh ooh yeah)
'Cause privacy is my middle name
    My last name is Control
No my first name ain't baby
    It's Janet
    Miss Jackson if you're nasty

    Nasty
Nasty boys, don't mean a thing
    Oh you nasty boys
    Nasty
Nasty boys, don't ever change, huh
    Oh you nasty boys

Nasty boys, don't mean a thing
    Oh you nasty boys
Don't mean a thing to me, uh
    Nasty!
    Don't mean a thing, huh
    Oh you nasty boys
    Uh!

    I love this part

    Hey!
    Who's that thinkin' nasty thoughts?
    Nasty boys!
Who's that in that nasty car?
    Nasty boys!
Who's that eating that nasty food?
    Nasty boys!
Who's jamming to my nasty groove?
    Nasty boys!

    Ladies
    (Nasty boys)
    Don't mean a thing

    Oh you nasty boys

Oh and I saw Janet in concert a couple years ago when she was on her Velvet Rope tour. If you ever get a chance to see her perform live, you MUST go.

G*d, I love you Chris  :mamoru:

I've got over 100 songs of hers (from all her CD's) on my ipod, in a playlist, and I usually have that shuffle throughout the day, ignoring the thousands of other songs I've got on my unit :naughtyd:

I don't like Britney, FYI...or Mandy Moore, or Lindsey Lohan, or the simpson girls, or any of that teenybopper shit...

Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Toni Braxton, Whitney Houston, Ciara, Aaliya, TLC, Destiny's Child, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Anita Baker, SADE, Missy Elliot, etc...those are my homegirls...

I AM a strong black woman :wtc:

spiffy the song is originally steve winwood's "valerie." I'm looking forward to seeing the video for the followup "take me away" which i like just as much.

hmmm right now, im listening to default "wasting my time," but still am into my beverley knight and natasha bedingfield. My friend made me make a top 25 list of all time fav records, and he didnt recognize any of the songs on it. I burned a cd to give to him but have been listenin to that non stop
