Tonight we'll make dinner (not sure what) then carve pumpkins, pass out candy, I'll make pumpkin chocolate chip cookies (or maybe pumpkin butterscotch cookies.. or maybe both if I'm feeling saucy :naughty:) then horror movies.

most of my friends are no longer in the same state as me

the ones who are live over an hour south and were mutual friends with my ex, who will undoubtedly be at the party, and will likely bring her new boyfriend along with her

anyway, we were encouraged to dress up at work. here's what it looked like after fading for 8 hours and a button popping off.

well this turned out to be absolutely great.

Emily went out as a peacock... I half am expecting her to show up on the internet since we couldn't get 3 feet without people jumping in to take photographs.

I didn't have a costume because I just wasn't going to half-ass it at the very last minute, especially since Emily was blue from head to toe. Covered in liquid latex that I (being VERY VERY nice) painted onto her over the course of three hours. Of course, she had a big fanning peacock tail.

I just acted like the Emily bouncer of sorts (albeit an extremely nice and welcoming bouncer) and handed out candy.

The attention was nice but Emily and I had actually been expecting there to be lots of very awesome costumes. Honestly, Emily's outfit was the best we saw. Some people even came up and said as much. Maybe it's been a thin year because of the recession.

I know we missed the Tetris guys. Apparently some folks dressed up as Tetris pieces and would combine into each other at regular intervals

Hopefully I will be able to get some of these photographs people took so I can actually show you guys the goodness that was the peacock.

We trekked from the village up to 14th st. A ten minute walk that took about an hour.

Some other great costumes we saw included the silver surfer and a bumble bee. The silver surfer was definitely the best non-Emily costume out there tonight (that we saw). Like Emily's it definitely involved liquid latex, this time (obviously) silver. That, unfortunately, I cannot provide you with a picture of.

I basically spent the night as the entourage, but it was very enjoyable, in part because Emily was so happy. I was mostly assisting people taking photographs (Emily was in character [as a bird], so I did the talking), and holding the umbrella, and occasionally pushing people away when they got too enthusiastic (not because they were groping her or anything like that - just to protect her peacock tail from accidental damage).

    Very, very, very fun.

Another thing that was nice, girls saying I was cute. It's a bit old school to care, or maybe insecure, but whatever. There were a couple random compliments that I appreciated.

    To top it all off:

At the end of the night we went to a party, where we met up with people who graduated from college with us. A little impromptu college reunion. Quite randomly, and serendipitously, a a girl was there whom I had always intended to hook up with, back when I was in college. Lo & behold we were making out in the coat room. :)

NYC is so NUTS on Halloween. My goodness. I saw some abusive guy throwing something at his girlfriend. He also threw this other dude to the ground, right there on the sidewalk. At that point I kind of wished antihero was there... one of those times where you can use a big guy around. :hs:

All in all, an excellent Halloween.

Next year I will plan well in advance so I actually have, you know, a costume. I'm thinking, maybe, just a really well done Devil/Angel combo with Emily would do the trick.

    nice work.

reminds me of Abracadabra. there's a store called Abracadabra in Manhattan that does some pretty awesome face painting.

yeah that is a LAME costume.

but at least you had a costume :o

I'm guessing you're still out (it's only, uh, 3:15 a.m.) so good luck :bigthumb:

JJJ, do you refer to your girl by name every time you mention her? i don't think i've ever seen you write the word "she"

i bet that's really annoying in speech, even more so than in print.

:bowrofl: I LOVE shutter shades :rofl: I have a white pair. Though they make me incredibly dizzy if I wear them for more than 10 minutes.
