I know the Nikons, but I don't know the equivalent Cannon equipment. Can somebody please post the Cannons that are in the same class as the Nikons?

    D40
    D60
    D70
    D80
    D90

If somebody wants to post the higher end cameras and their equivalents then that would be cool too. I'm not looking for this to be a discussion about which is better. It's just that I see a lot of posts where people discuss Cannons and I don't know which is which. Thanks!

    20D and d40
    30D and d60
    40D and D90
    50D and D300

    :dunno: could be wrong

d70 and 80 are no longer produced.

20 and 30d are no longer produced either

    It's more like this:

    XTI and d40
    XSI and d60
    40D and D90
    50D and D300
    5DII and D700
    ID(s) and D3(x)

Yeah now the XSi is about the lowest end SLR they make and its got a plastic body instead of the magnesium 40D.

The D40 is 6mp and worse than any canon DSLR except maybe the original digital rebel (not xt, the older one) although the canon has the edge because it can use EF and EF-S lenses...

    XTi/XSi = d60
    XXD series = d90/300
    5D/5DII = d700

F-mount is far more reaching in terms of lens compatibility than EF/EF-S.

BS, ef/ef-s mount works with every canon lens since like 1989 (or whenever they developed EOS). None of the ones before that had AF anyway.

    fine, then d40x.

jesus christ, talk about splitting hairs...

and the d90 and 40d are both 10mp cameras, while the d300 and 50d are each companies next evolutionary step.

But this whole conversation is moot, because each company specifically gapped their lines to make sure there was no identical comparison possible.

And F-mount compatibility dates back to lenses and bodies almost 2 decades before that. We're not talking AF, though. The whole argument you made this out to be is about compatibility.

D90 is 12mp. Just sayin'. Megapixels are everything after all.
