what are the best food to eat prior to working out?

    what types of foods provide you with the most energy before working out...i know gluciose provides the body with much energy, but im not too sure whats high in glucose.

    I avoid eating dairy... slows water absorption. I like to drink a protein shake made w/ water and maybe some toast if I'm low on carbs.

    1.5 hours pre = egg whites and toast or hashbrown. Immediately before lifting = some fruit and a protein shake.
