A&P what are some ways to get really crisp B&W's from Color

    I ahve fooled around with the contrast and brightness but they are just not cutting it. Are there any other ways to get better B&W's from color?

    What are you using to convert them? My favorite method is channel mixer in photoshop. :eek3:

    Image > Adjustments > Gradient Map > Black/White

    then fuck around with curves

    image - adjustments - channel mixer - monochrome


    though theres a cool plugin at www.fredmiranda.com that allows easy use of B&W filters as well as converting it

    I think the monochrome way gives a very flat, dull B&W conversion, just look at this comparison

    the channel mixer to monochrome allows you to adjust the individual red/green/blue channels individuallly

    I know, I just think the gradient map has much deeper rich tone to it :bigthumb:
