I love my 17-35 2.8 on a ff camera... this lens gets no love in the shadow of the 14-24 but its a great lens. Also my 60 2.8 macro. It gets overlooked a lot for the tammy 90mm or nikons 105vr... still though, such close focus in a razor sharp 50ish mm lens is nice, and the out of focus area is very smooth.

I've been dying to try the 35f2... very close focusing and a very useful range for such a small and convenient lens.

The Nikon 35 1.8 is talked about, but I don't think enough. I think it totally beats the piss out of the 50 1.8, and it's a better range for a crop.

The 17-35 is a great lens, it is probably my next purchase, but I am waiting to the supposed to be remake of it as a 16-35... will defiantly unload my 14-24 then.

LP damn son you love that 35... we know we know.

Of course it is > 50 1.8 (the model u have) it has a AF-S and provides the 50mm focal range all FF and 35mm Film people love on dx body factor.

I've got one foot in the pentax camp, so the old, and unstoppable Pentax SMC 50mm f1.7 manual everything lens from the 80's.

Bitch is some kind of sharp, crazy short DOF, and they go for $50 on ebay all day long.

The best thing about a pentax dSLR is being able to use all that SWEET and CHEAP 30 year back catalog of K-mount SMC "M" glass that's out there.

AND pentax digital bodies use sensor shake, so it's in the body, not the lens = all the old manual glass becomes instantly stabilized. (You just have to type in the focal length for the system to work right since the lenses obviously don't have chips.)

It's so narrow that only parts of the slip are in focus from it being wavy/curled.

i'm liking my 17-35afs very much. I used to have a tokina 17f/3.5 and the nikkor 35f/2. I prefer the 35f/1.8 DOF, but f/2's build, colors seemed more vivid and sharp IMO. I wish I had the money to add more primes into my lineup, but my line of work zooms are what get me paid. The tokina was a perfect cheap wide angle prime for FX users, semi soft corners but its a $200 prime, and it used 77mm filters which all my zooms use.
