looking to get a decent hard drive, that's easily portable, for a good price.

    Sad, isn't it?

But still, how much storage does a person really need? All my movies are on DVDs, all my music is on my mp3 player...an old 20GB laptop hard drive tucked into the hot-swap enclosure I linked to before is all I'll ever need, for carrying source code and DVD ISOs and whatnot.

That's true...however I must say that having more storage than you would ever need is not necessarily a bad thing as you can never backup your data in enough places.

Be that as it may, huge drives will be used longer, and the longer you use a drive, the greater the risk of it failing before you've copied your shite off it.

i bought an imation 320gb external drive from buy.com a few months ago (saw the deal on slickdeals.net) for $70 after rebate

i opened it up to find out that it was a seagate 7200.10 drive inside, i was pretty happy with that

black friday is coming soon, you know that best buy and staples will have awesome deals
