I just put a new headunit in my car and it's a little too powerful for my rear stock speakers in my corolla. what are some good ones that i can replace it with?

remember this is a corolla and i'm not looking to put a whole new system in there, just have a feeling i'm about to blow my rears.

basically I'm looking for something with some good punch, doesn't sound tinsey, and not too expensive. about $100ish for set.

    thanks for the help :wavey:

    Good 6x9's...

Hmmm...MTX, RE Audio, Zapco, Infinity, Etc, etc, etc.... all are decently better than stock. Go listen to as many as you can (in cars if possible) and make your decision based on that. Sorry for the blow-off answer, but that is really the best way to judge them.

kicker speakers are pretty efficient off radio power.

Eh...the 692.7i is actually not that bad (never sold any 693.7i's) and if you can buy the 693.7i for $66.50 it is a steal. That's almost 1/2 off of dealer cost.

ok, just looked those up. kappas are pretty decent. i was thinking of the reference series i used to install during my stint at CC. man did those ever sound like shit!

go listen to the kappas and if you like them, pick them up.

infinity isn't what it was 5 years ago... back then, even the reference stuff sounded great... we dropped the line around that time, plus we had a bad batch come through at the time.

The older references in particular are some of the best all around modestly priced coaxes...efficient, decent bottom on head power and a nice smooth silk dome :squint:

and i disagree with you... the older references were great sounding, even better than the kappa's... especially on just deck power, but this 5 years and earlier.
