at a reasonable price? I either see cameras that have been owned for years, or theres no telling what condition its in. They make look new because they've been babied, but I can't see the condition of the CCD or any of the inside mechanics. There is the route of going a NIB D100 for about 600, but I was planning on spending 600 total, as in body + lens.

Are there any models out there with a similar feature layout of a D100 but is newer...D70 perhaps?

Pretty much was...I learned on it and I can't find anything like it...unless its a D200 and I don't have the cash for that.

You are talking about build wise? You may want to look at some comparison photos online. D100 has pretty poor noise handling compared to Nikons post D50.

What I was mostly looking for was the turn knobs (is that what they are) where the right index finger and right thumb would go.

Perhaps I'll look at other options...thanks for the heads up guys.

Edit: eh...I'm just going to start looking for D80's

those knobs are called command dials, and the d70 and d80 both have them. the d50 has only the rear one which is a pain in the ass if you ask me. but definatly reccomend the d70 instead of the d100

Do I really get that much more out of a D80 to justify its price over the D70? I don't really need 10 mp...6mp I'm fine with as I never print out larger than 8x11

I just had a thought; Is the D70 post D50?

edit: Crap...D70 was before the D50. And the D50 doesn't have a command dial in front :wtc: it's not a biggy but eh...

    Back to looking at D80's

    edit2: eh...was the D70s released after the D50?

I've considered Canon...but eh...I really know nothing about them.

edit: i am considering the 20D though. any better choices for 600 (body only) at the most?
