Like for instance, if a U.S. citizen decided to immigrate there, would their firearms (not from Commifornia) transfer, or would a person have to sort of keep it under the radar?

    Beats me.

I know they have shit we dont get and vise versa. But their stuff is on far stricter guidelines.

I think you can bring over items that are directly related to items already permissible over there.

When I use to go to competitions in the summer, we had to file forms with ATF, Canada, and customs agents.

Non-evil rifles and shotguns can likely be taken without much issue.

Handguns, AR's, etc. are going to require a Possession and Acquisition Licence, from the looks of it.

First thing, you'll need a Non-Restricted PAL (Possession and Acquisition) license for your shotguns and most centerfire rifles not on the Restricted list, and a Restricted PAL license for all handguns and centerfire rifles classified as such.

Any pistols with barrel lengths that are less than 4.1 inches (or something extremely close) are prohibited by law and will either require a new, legal-length barrel, or cannot enter the country. Any handgun magazine capable of allowing more than 10 rounds is prohibited. Centerfire rifles magazines can't hold more than 5.

A lot of your toys may be prohibited, like the AK and all its variants, so you need to check the list before making the trip.

Finally, you're likely to need an import permit along with (I'm guessing) an Authorization To Transport (ATT) from wherever you're crossing to your new canadian destination.

Once you're here, you can't CCW, OC or do anything remotely cool. You'll need an ATT to take your Restricted firearms from your house to the range, and your Restricted firearms cannot be fired anywhere other than an official club/range.

    Welcome to Hell.

    It's pretty annoying.

Oh, and ammo prices are fucking disgusting... I mean, to the point that I haven't even bothered buying 9mm reloads. I haven't shot my P30L in over two months... and this is summertime for us.

16$ per box of 50 rounds before taxes? Fuck that shit. Even the reloads cost around 12$ per box.

I would need a reloading press. No room for it, however.

My point was that with our shitty weather and snow-ridden terrain 3/4 of the year, we don't get much trigger time outside of the indoor ranges... so understand me when I say that if it wasn't for the absurd ammo prices, I'd be there at least three times a week. Unfortunately, it's simply not affordable to shoot anything other than .22LR right now, and there's only so much of that you can shoot before getting bored and wanting something else.
