    i heard the XSi is a pretty good cam, buuuuttt.... I would rather have the better AF system in any of the canon XXd cams or nikon XXXd cams than those

    Truth. Build quality is important to me, I feel like the Rebels and D40/60's feel tiny and very easy to break. I want my camera to feel hefty and able to take a hit.

    I'm a noob with a 40D. But before that I had a 300D which was probably on that list 5 years ago.

    yeah to an extent. Still if the camera cant focus, then you still miss the shot even if you are the greatest on the planet. But yes for any novice any of the cams mentioned would be great, but im one of those who like the most bang for the buck, and the consumer bodies dont give me that

    well then you dont even need a camra you can take mental pictures and just draw them later.

    There is nothing wrong with the XTI for a beginner, they work very well, take great pictures, and are super cheap!
