I have a dell 8100 that I bought last year. It is my only windows computer and does a good job replacing a desktop. Just get one with the 64mb or higher video card so you can play some games.
The frame gets kind of choppy while playing medal of honor but it still works.
Also if you are running on batteries all the time like I am. I like the option of taking out the Floppy drive and adding a second battery.

and if you are looking at AlienWare's laptop there is another company that makes the computer for them minus the fancy paint job but I don't remember the Name.

First time ive seen that Alienware laptop, it comes in different colours, so thats ok.

It looks to be the ultimate machine for gaming, I still dont think they can get a good enough graphics card into a laptop.

I have the same setup with a GeForce 2 and this thing is sweet. Warcraft 3 and Command and Conquer: Generals play very smooth. DVD on this UXGA+ 15" are amazing. It looks almost as nice as my friend's PowerBook.
