In order of most necessary?
For general/vacation use.
nikon 14-24mm 2.8
nikon 24-70mm 2.8
nikon 70-200mm 2.8
or go home.
zooms are fantastic for general use.
If you want to push the envelope of your creativity, primes are the way to go.
i would go with a wide to standard zoom (24-70 on ff 17-55 on crop), a 70-200, and then a fast prime. right now i have a 17-50 and a 85 1.8, and once i can afford it i'm planning on adding a 70-200.
that 70-200 2.8 has me so horny
14-24 and 24-70 are next on my list.
Canon 50 1.4
Canon 70-200 f2.8 L IS
70-200 f2.8 L IS
a wide, a very fast aperture (1.8 ish) and some kind of standard-to-short tele zoom.
Don't tell us what camera body you have. We'll just pray for a sign to show us.
11-16 OR 14-24
70-200 if full frame
I would get 24-70 before the 12-24 if it's for general use
these 3 lenses are def. top 3 if you have a Nikon DX frame
Or considering the threadstarter, more appropriately known as the Holy Trinity.
it is the trinity in my eyes.
indeed. he's going to have to get them blessed before he uses them. God knows that Jesus hates people that spend a lot of money on useless things.
I think everyone should have at least 1 prime, so for Nikon I'd say:
50mm of choice
yep. if i couldnt afford the 24-70. this would be my setup. and often is when i want to get creative. For some reason the 24-70 zaps my creativity.
those are my weapons of choice.
if i had just 3 lenses it would be
15/4.5 ASPH Super Wide Heliar
a 35mm and a 100mm
i am not much of a tele person, wides are much more fun to me.
teles feel more "serious" while wides feel whimsical
LOL... he's looking up these $2k lenses going FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
i personally sleep and make love to my 55-200VR. $225, and the lens is just outstanding. can't beat it for the price.
you also can't beat a $30 hooker's price.
but at the end of the day, you're still full of fail and aids.
i'll be good with a 24-70f2.8 and 70-200f2.8is combo
Why do you say that?
What advantages do the primes have over the zooms?
But yes, my choice would be this but minus the 14-24 and + 16-35
