Western Digital finally posted software updates and a firmware update for My Books for Leopard. Anyone use it yet? I really want to but I'm worried about losing the data.

Choose My Book Home Edition on the left, then My Book Home Firmware Update - Leopard Functionality on the right.

But choose your appropriate version if you don't have the Home edition. I have the Home. I really want to try it but I'm :noes:.

what's the benefit? I've got a 500gb essential used for Time Machine, and a 1tb Premium II as a main drive (FW800) and 1tb World edition (gigabit ethernet) for backup and no problems

The LED capacity indicator is fixed. And I think you can edit settings like timeouts and stuff.

Don't use MyBooks. I've had two of them die, one from falling over on its side on a stack of papers, and the other for no good reason at all.

Crack the case open, pull out the disk, and put it into a nice Vantec NexStar 3 case. You can get ones now that have USB, Firewire, and eSATA hookups, for <$50 each.
