Here is the deal. My little brothers computer is already on the wireless network, but I cant remember what the login for the router is to pull the key off there.

So he has winxp SP2, and I need to find out the key thats already programmed in there.

No shit, I am lazy, and dont really want to have to reset the router.

There has to be a way to figure it out without hacking it. It must be stored in the registry or something.

If you have a USB key drive, you're in luck. Open the Wireless network connections window (the one with the networks on one side and a menu on the other). Under network tasks on the left, click on Set up a wireless network for a home or small office. Run through the wizard, selecting "Add new computers or devices..." option when asked.

This will create a file on the key in X:\SMRTNTKY\WSETTING.TXT (where X is the USB Thumb drive). The wireless key is inside this file. You can also just plug this into another XP machine and it will automatically setup the network connection.

edit: I think it will also do a floppy now that I think about it

Well I am trying to set it up on the PSP. so it doesnt really work like a normal computer....

but if it puts the WEP in a text file, then that is easy enough.

    thanks
