unfortunately i had to spend the first hour rebuilding my target holder that someone shot to shit...savages.

here is my first group of 10 at 25 yards standing.

i moved on to 50 yards, sitting and supporting the rifle at the magwell [wanted to see how much of a difference it would be not touching the barrel

    second group

and last group after patching up the old target

also, some slob fired off a brick of .45 ACP and didnt clean up after himself, so i walked away with 50< brass :x:

poor eyesight with the iron sights at that range. also, i think its a little of the trigger. its not the smoothest in the world. i def think its me tho. only shot 2x at 50 yard and 1x at 100, so still plenty of practice needed :o

How are you holding the irons. Is it set up where the bullet impact is top edge of the front sight. What I'm saying is many people make sighting errors and hold the post on target. This covers the target of course and you cannot shoot accurately.

Second really refine your breathing and trigger control. few deep breaths, full breath, let 1/3rd of it out, hold breath, press trigger. There is going to be some wobble in the sights. The trick is to make the wobble as little as possible and break the shot as it passes through target. If you don't find anything acceptable within 5 seconds of holding your breath start over. Once you become the slightest bit oxygen starved your eyesight will start to go.

Much of rifle shooting is positions. If off a bench there are several methods. I like to barricade off the bench because this is more like when I shoot off of objects at matches. I put the handguard on the bench, champ my support hand on top of the handguard, and try to prop my right elbow either on my knee or on somthing. If your shooting off your mag as a monopod cross your support hand accross your body and use the support hand to support the back of the stock. If you do it right you can even ball up your fist to create a rear monopod and hold the stock to your shoulder with thumb and index finger. Try to get your elbows and forearm on the bench.

I've been meaning to take some pictures for a rifle position edu.

thanks for the tip, ill have to try some next time.

i try to shoot with the target right above my irons. i prefer to use the small aperture for everything with the front post as centered as i can get. i also try to keep the same position on the cheek plate every time as well [up close to the sight with my nose practically touching the charging handle].
