USAF Lt. Col. (Ret.) Barry Bridger, Vietnam POW for 6 years.

He spoke of his experience in Vietnam, the atrocities that took place and how the men had enough will to stand up to the Vietnamese and not divulge any key information. Very inspirational speaker, I recommend anyone to go see him speak if given the opportunity.

Yeah, speakers are usually paid to travel, housed, and sometimes fed. All of this on top of being paid. Public speaking can be very lucrative, but many people either can't do it or have nothing to say worth listening to.

Yea, Public/Motivational speaking is a lucrative gig, if you're good at it. Greenspan is making millions now doing the speaking gig.

When I was a senior in High School we had an ex-POW that spoke to our entire school. One thing that has always followed me from that day was "we are better than them, because we would never stoop to their level". It's getting harder to say that nowadays. :hs:
