I have to say it deffinately wasnt what i expected.

After trying so hard to help others out, one friend showed she truly cared and gave me a caring "nudge" to join her at one of the meetings. I am really glad i went and im looking forward to attending it in the future.

I have tried quitting drinking on my own several times before only to end up relapsing, so i decided it couldnt hurt much more to just give AA a try. It was almost uncanny to hear these people speaking, so many of them w/ very similar situations and many that are fighting this addiction to no end. And for the first time i think ever... i felt concern for people i dont even know.

Not much to this thread, just thought id share from a first timers point of view... there is really nothing to be afraid of. Good luck everyone.

That is wonderful. My mom and stepdad started AA about 10 or 11 years ago, and still going strong. Keep it up, they both have made wonderful friends through there and it is a wonderful support group.
