Just as the title states, I went to fix a client's PC and he gave me a D100 with two batteries, user manual, and charger.

I currently have a Canon XT with kit lens.

Should I keep it or sell it? :o

I really want a new lens for my XT but I want to shoot with the Nikon to see how it is. I definitely like the way it feels in my hand (even more than the XT). But obviously I would have to buy a lens for the D100 if I kept it.

    What to do? :noes:

my dad has a d100 and he loves it - pick up an used 50mm 1.8 lens or something and play around.

I have no idea what a D100 is going for, but I'd rather have the 30D and some glass over those two cameras :dunno:

i've been considering getting the wife a D50 to learn to shoot with.

If you decide to sell it, lemme know what you want for it.

My brother is selling his D100 and a few Nikkor lens, switching over to Canon. He's going with a 40D & 17-55 2.8 IS. He made the switch once he got to use my 1D MKII and 70-200 2.8L IS lol

As mentioned previously, sell both bodies and get a used 30D or 40D, or sell the D100 and get better glass for the XT. You'll probably upgrade the XT down the road but at least you've got better glass for it.

Thanks! I didn't think about that.

I think I might get a lens for the D100 and play around with it first. Then I can sell it + the lens + the XT and then upgrade to the 30D or a better Nikon (D80?). :noes:

You probably won't like the D100's older processor (slow) and higher noise. If you only shoot at lower ISO, it'll be fine but the older Nikon bodies do poorly at higher ISO. The ergonomics on the D100 is much better than the XT, though.
