So we packed up today and went shooting. Had a wide variety of weapons to take with us!!! But this is the first time my girlfriends boy has ever touched a weapon so we went through all the weapon safety first, and he was sat down with all the rules. Got him eye protection and ear protection and went out shooting, he had a blast!!

    Thought I'd share some pics:

All the guns getting ready, great thing about it....the girlfriend is right into loading them!! And I didnt even have to ask her :o

How is it dating a chick with kids from another dude? Does it ever cause problems, like resenting him? Do ya endup having to take'em with ya everywhere ya go?

Cool pics tho, is that your private land?

No, I absolutely love hanging out with the dude every chance we get. His father is great, both with the kid and as someone that deals with the whole situation.

No, not my private land. Its National grassland about an hour out of town :bigthumb:

Keep your eye pro down. I bet the kid would sure remember the day his mom's boyfriend lost his eye.

    Other than that, good job!

Send these pics to the Brady Campaign. I'm pretty sure someone there will shit their pants when they see a 5 year old shooting an SKS.

:werd: They'd shit themselves as soon as they saw a 5-year old with a semiautomatic assault weapon, especially with that bayonet.

We need the assault weapons ban back!! :run: :hsugh:

I can't decide if he's practicing trigger discipline w/ his finger off the trigger or if he just can't reach it.

Your lady friend is cute, thanks for sharing.

Not a fan of that style muzzle brake though, it looks like what Bushmaster used to pin onto their ban rifles (not sure though). My friend has an AR like that, and it's unbearable loud indoors with plugs/muffs, and also sends an incredible amount of gases back into the shooter's face.

Thank you on the compliment :bigthumb:

Yeah, its actually not my AR. Its my buddy's, he let me borrow it for a couple of weeks. I have to agree with you, I was getting a ton of gas in the face and its FUCKING loud. I was helping the girlfriend set up on it because she couldnt get her placement on the sites quite right so I went up and showed her how to line up the sights and I shot her how to load it and shoot it without ear plugs and my ears were screaming for 20 minutes.

    Holy moley bad idea batman!

I've been obsessed with silencers/supressors as of late, and it seems that shooting normal rifles, like a 14.5" with a flash hider, you're getting ~165 decibels. Even with ear plugs AND muffs, you're probably still causing a little bit of hearing damage to yourself, as estimated reduction is at 36 db or so. Hearing damage with impulse noises starts at 120.

The only way to make shooting a rifle truly hearing safe is to have a suppressor as well as hearing protection. This is how the brits managed to make silencers legal in that country: they went with the health aspect of it.

Shooting a rifle with a brake (and with hearing protection) is already kind of iffy if you want to make it old age without hearing aids. Shooting a rifle with a brake without hearing protection is bad ju-ju.

Take care of yourself man, double up on plugs and muffs!

And tell your buddy to get rid of that god awful brake, lol. Modern brakes by OPS Inc, PWS and AAC send the gas laterally. The whole idea of a muzzle brake that shoots gas backwards into the shooter's face is just kinda funny to me.

If I were a rep or senator, the first thing i'd do is attach a rider to a health related bill that would take suppressors of NFA. It's pretty damn ridiculous that hearing protection is regulated in the same way as a machine gun.

That's the angle that pro second amendment groups tried to roll with in a bill in WA state to allow for suppressor usage. Currently, ownership is ok, but usage is not.

Unfortunately, the bill died in committee and never made it onto the floor, surprise surprise.

Honestly though, purchasing a suppressor is not that big a deal. It seems like anyone and everyone in WA who is semi into black rifles, and isn't below the poverty line has a suppressor.
