Just picked up the new car for the missus and myself. Time to economise and get rid of my r33 skyline (dont worry, not a gtr) and probably her integra as well.

Got a new Mitsubishi Ralliart Colt. Its a 1.5 litre mivec turbo front wheel drive. Its not overly pretty but at least its new, goes okish.

Other good bits include recaro front seats from the evo, reasonable brakes, fairly stiff suspension and 16" wheels with yokohama advans. The whole idea of the full 5 year and 10 year drivetrain warranty is a big thing!

Plans are to keep it stock. There is a Team mitsubishi ralliart warranty complaint boost upgrade i might consider, but other than that I dont wanna touch it.

I think the best part is the ability to insure it and be able to use it when I went, unlike the skyline.

Yeah its a bit slow for my liking. 0-60mph in 7.3 and 1/4 in 15.3 seems about the norm. Bear in mind aussie mags always seem to get slower times than yanks.

There is a factory power upgrade available that should made it crack a 14 which might be a good start. Still retains warranty etc.

Mileage for combined city/highway cycle is 35mpg.

Haha love the seats in those things - they honestly haven't sold many colts in general have mitsubishi?

I think i've seen maybe ONE on the roads down here

Did you look at the VW Polo GTi? (I'm actually not sure if they cost the same, but I figure they do?)

Thought about polo gti but 27k+on roads is a fair bit more than the colt run out at 21.5k on road :)

fucking awesome, i love the new breed of fast super-mini's

Having said that, i would have gotten a Polo GTi instead. I simply refuse to buy a Mitsubishi.

Fucking Americans, they need to open their eyes and see that there's more in the world than their gas guzzling SUVs. We need more of these cars in the US, and more people need to start riding motorcycles and mopeds. The times I've been in Japan and all over Europe, I saw so many cool little cars.

    How much did you pay?

After looking at carsales, there seems to be dealers trying to sell these, brand new, for 10k below retail.

I paid 21.5k for a 'demo'. Demo being a car which was registered to make sales numbers and it had little more than delivery km's on it (few hundred km's in 4 months). Its just a good amount cheaper than the polo. At 27k + on roads for the polo I would have just kept driving the r33.

The 5 year warranty makes me kinda happier about buying a mitsu.

I have seen from 16.0 to 15.3. Motor got the 15.3 in there bang for your bucks thing a couple years ago. A few owners seem to be getting 15.5ish. I was wrong about the 7.3, it was 7.4 :p

    Heres the motor article..

Yeah its good you only paid 21.5, because i had a look and that seems the going rate

thats a phenomenal amount of car for that type of money isn't it. I've seen normal colt's advertised for 16k.

A bargain really, its economical, and cheap. You got the best colour too :dunno:

No hate here, but yeah, i would prefer the polo, i guess mitsubishi realised its not worth 30k.

oh and BFYB just rates acceleration and track times, the Polo wins in the real world were the interior and stuff like that matters.

Oh yeah. If the colt was RRP I wouldn't have even gone for a test drive. 30k is a joke, even 27 is too much.

For comparison the same money gets a YRS yaris or base corolla (if your lucky) on the road! We have yaris at work, i think i would fall asleep and crash if I had to drive on far!

As long as it sees me to the end of med school i'll be happy.
