I was coming home from the shop where they installed my new chain kit. I was splitting the fast lane behind another bike. Halfway home, eastbound on the 10, another bike gets on at La Brea. He finds a gap and shoots over to our lane, not even checking for bikes. He cuts off the bike I was tailing. We brake in time and are fine. Then, the bike I was following goes to the number 2 lane, and splits the 2 and 3 lanes. I decide to do the same, because the bike that cut us off sucks at lane splitting, he is constantly slowing down and coming to a full stop in between cars. I move to the number 2 lane. Im at the right line of the no.2, and i turn my head to make sure no bikes are coming and that my path is clear, as soon as I turn my head back, I see the lights on a Civic light up. I try and lean over to the right to avoid it, but Im too close and end up clipping his rear bumper. I dont remember going down. my bike needs a new headlight housing and the front fairing cracked. me and the civic exchanged info, CHP took our report, no citations issued. I rode the bike home.
    Sorry this is so long.

yeah i've had many close calls considering I feel like I'm always splitting lanes in this SoCal traffic. Sounds like alot of changing lanes, I try to stick with splitting the same lane no matter what for that same fear. Good to hear you are ok though.

yea, the only reason I went for the lane change was because of the moron who cut us off. He was inexperienced in lane splitting, you could tell, and he was on a fake cop bike, with white helmet and antenna.
