So, as you guys know, my take downs suck.

So I've been working really hard on them. Part of my problem is I don't explode and really commit 100% to them.

So I'm setting it up, take the penetrating step and as hard as I can explode into him off my back leg. This guy was about 200lbs of solidness. I don't know if my take down was just so explosive and hard that he didn't have time to sprawl or he just wasn't good at it...probably the latter.

But I hit so hard it almost KOed me. I saw stars.

    It hurt :(

I got the take down though.

Do you have the tractor? If so, I highly recommend Mark Hatmaker's ABC's of Takedown Progression. I sucked at wrestling in highschool, but did much better afterwards after watching those tapes.

Hmm I'm seeing a lot of mark hatmaker stuff but I can't find the takedown tapes.

I could upload em overnight. Does megaupload still do 700 MB uploads?

That would be the awesome. And all I'm saying is that if any invites to anything cool were being sent out I wouldn't mind seeing a message in my inbox. :wiggle:

nope, I think he is scared of me.

I grappled with a guy that was good but kind of shitty to roll with.

He was all about grinding his head and anything on his body hard into my face/neck. Thats ok for comp but from where I trained at its just seen as kinda mean. I've got a big red mark on my face, the front of my throat is sore and my jaw is really sore from him cranking a RNC across it(not my neck). Not gonna roll with him again.

yeah rolling with douchebags is always a threat. i've been doing bjj only for a few months and at first they were really stressing the fact that we train with each other and we don't want to hurt one another (mostly because my friend picked someone up and lightly slammed them, lol). well anyway, my first week goes by and i went to an open mat and rolled with a blue belt that was a complete asshole. grinding the jaw from rnc, missed arm triangle so he tried a neck crank + crossface, forearm on trachea, etc. as time passed and i rolled with other higher white belts, i realized the closer a person is to blue belt, the less and less they respect the rules and other people. it's unfortunate, but now i pull the same asshole moves against them. unlike you though, i always jump at the chance to roll with them again. not to hurt them, just to show them that they aren't stellar bjj players because they can bully some white belts around

I believe that is the right file. I'm uploading the first part on Maestro Nobones's server and it should be done by tomorrow morning. I'll upload the second version prolly towards the evening tomorrow if you guys don't wanna waste your ratio on the tractor.

Its not exactly an advanced tape and if you've wrestled before you prolly won't learn anything new if you had a good coach. For me it was a great tape because by the time I watched it I hadn't wrestled in like 4 years. What I like about hatmaker is he really drills the basics and explains why they are important and he goes over every detail.

Hey, I took my GRE's so I wasn't able to train there this week, and I just went home to NJ for christmas so I won't be back until January. Haha did you catch the name of that guy by any chance? If you go back soon you should definitely roll with Paul (also goes by DC2) and Rick.

Me and paul are pretty even, he generally gets the better of me but not really badly.

    Fast little fucker.

There is also some red headed kid with X's on the back of his calf that is wirey as FUCK. I had him locked in a full triangle and he got out....NO CLUE how.

My fav to roll with is Courtney, hes just enough better than me to really push me with out breaking me.

The mean guy was ned :( Love him off the mat...I'm going to avoid him on it now, lol. I was covered in bruises after our roll.

I also like rolling with Israel, hes strong as hell for a small guy, tons of fun to roll with.

Because they're handy when you apply the techniques in an actual gym... they're only useless when you don't train otherwise

I understand the importance of practicing, but it's certainly not useless.
