i've read other posts on here saying people have shown their CCL when getting pulled over and gotten out of a ticket. got pulled over last night, showed cop my DL and CCL. he asked where my firearm was, i told him, and she said not to touch it (I was thinking to myself, why would I? worst time ever to touch it.) and he took my DL and came back with a ticket for 55 in a 40 (which is what i was doing). oh well, i'll just plea bargain the ticket to a non-moving violation anyway. :hs:

Only if you live far away from a military base.

Probably because you were black. Cops never give breaks to a car with a dark interior.

Keeping my police ID with my DL keeps me from getting a ticket. I got stopped last week doing 47 in a 25, and he saw my ID and walked back to his bike and rode off after telling me to slow down.

On another note for CC people. One of the officers at my station stopped a man who had just gotten his the day before. The dude said "I have a CCW" the officer told him not to touch, but before he could finish the dude had already drawn his weapon and swept the officer with it. Needless to say, he got a ticket and will probably lose his CCW over it, since he should know better especially since he took the class 2 weeks prior and they tell you what to do and not to do when stopped by the police.

He's a good cop, and did draw down on the guy. It was an encounter that could very easily have been deadly.

Not much to do with your CCW, you were at 15 over. Most of them will write for 15+ over the limit.

Yeah I said it's gotten me out of tickets, but 15 over is pushing it. Also I'm not sure what state your in. I just claimed it helped in Texas.

eh its not so much the ticket as the incease in insurance and taking time to deal with it. I'm busy with things to do like everyone else. The county I got stopped in is anal, I got a ticket in 2002 and showed up at the date + time on the ticket and the clerk said that if you want a hearing you have to come in the day before and write a letter. WTF. so this time I'm going to call and find out what the exact proceedure is to appeal. show up, plead not guilty and find out the prosecutor's name and # or call back and get it, and plea bargain for a non-moving violation. I hear that works, and everyone is happy, they still get their money, and my insurance doesn't go up. If that fails, I'll just plead not guilty and ask for continuances (if possible) to push it on as long as I can and then when they get tired of that and tell me i have to show up, i'll hope the state trooper doesn't show up. no witness for the prosecution = no case = ticket dropped. if I still lose, atleast they had to pay the cop some overtime to show up, so its less money in their coffers.

yeah but depends on how much a lawyer costs and will they even take a speeding ticket case. it's only a few hours of work at the most, and would i save more by getting a lawyer then paying the ticket + insurance? but i'm going to see if i can do the plea bargain myself and get a lawyer only if i need to.

'eh there's only so much you can hope for. 15 over and I expect a ticket, 10 over and maybe he'll be nice, but sometimes you just earn it :big grin:

I don't even bother showing my CCW permit. I got pulled over for speeding, which has absolutely nothing to do with my firearm.
If they ask I'll answer. If not, it's really none of their business in that situation.

Why on earth would you think a gun permit would get you out of a ticket?

Even if you don't show it, it will pop when the officer runs you for wants and warrants. They will get what is called a "hot hit" and be able to see that you have a CCW. It's best to inform him of the permit, since while you aren't required to tell them in many states, if you don't you will probably get a ticket no matter what.
