Here's to hoping they actually take care of the problems :x:

I haven't been hearing many good things about their customer service and warrantying of late... so I guess we'll see.

Oh, and I had to put the gun in my own box and pay for shipping back to them :ugh: Srsly :ugh2:

Sup buddy... thanks for coming to my thread. :mamoru:

Coating on the barrel is completely gone, making it susceptible to corrosion.
Bluing on top of the slide is peeling/flaking off.
On the right side of this gun, right above the trigger, is a metal piece that slides forward as you pull the trigger (honestly, I have no idea how to describe this piece, maybe I'll look for a picture), its bubbling underneath the coating with rust.

The gun is a year old. And I'm really mostly concerned about the barrel. I've never seen that before.

Ok, this is a really rough depiction of what is going on with my gun... but I tried the best I could.

I think the finish when to shit when Stoeger took over this gun. Because people on Beretta forums have had no issues with 10 yr old Beretta Cougars.

So I think it might just be the Stoegers.

Yeah. Beretta even seemed surprised when I called to talk to them about it.
That's why I think its the Stoeger finish... it might be a weaker blend, with less corrosion resistance? :dunno:

Other than the crappy finish, how do you like your Cougar otherwise?

I think this is probably a relatively small problem with these guns. Almost all other Stoeger Cougars I have seen have had a nice finish. So maybe its just mine... maybe it got fugged up at the factory, and a year later starter to deteriorate.

Whatever it is, I'm just hoping they strip it and refinish it and send it back to me.
If not, I'll send it to someone to have it refinished, obviously paying for it, and never buy another Beretta product again. I'm already upset that they didn't send me a prepaid box to send it to them. That's just stupid. Why should I have to pay for a box and pay for shipping to send their gun back to them for warranty issues? I dunno, I just didn't like that. Left me wondering about their character as a company, and their treatment of customers that do have issues.

Oh heck yeah man. Its a great shooting gun, and shoots straight. Its heavy, but I like the feel.

Its a 40S&W, but because of the rotating barrel design, the recoil is negligible. Its a nice shooter. Its really a great HD gun. I keep it on my nightstand.

I am thinking of getting one for my first semi-auto. I was thinking of a Taurus PT92, but then I saw the Cougar, and its dramatic drop in price. I like that barrel design.

Everything else about the gun is just fine. Its really a nice gun for how cheap it is.

I just want the finish taken care of so it doesn't rust... especially the barrel.

Yeah well, you can't get one new with nightsights. I wonder why though... that's kinda stupid.
