I went against your recommendations of getting a 30d, 40d and even 50d and got an T1i instead. I went and played with them at the stores and while I liked the 50D, it was a little too much for me to spend on something I knew nothing about. I kind of want to mess around with HD video so the T1i fits the bill.

Ended up getting it from Wally world for 725 less 15% bing cash back.

First time I ran it through i didn't get bing to come up so i panicked and cancelled my order. I ordered again and put in my bing cash back info and in the mean time the first came through and then the second :noes:

If both come through the camera will be $507 bucks and it came with a 4gb SD card :mamoru:

I wanted to thank you all for putting up with my questions and I look forward to learning the camera and taking some sweet photos

sure. but for $200 it lacks a lot. 40d and d90 shit all over it

i can't speak much for the 40d, but the d90's layout is much MUCH better. it has more controls that are easier to use, and it has a top lcd. it also has commander mode.

the rebels look like they are made for someone that loves shooting auto mode all the time

seriously return that shit and get a real camera. in a few months you will quickly realize how much it blows not having 2 wheels and you will also regret not having a beautiful lcd up top that displays all info.

The 40d's with stock lense and 10k actuations are going for damn near $1000. That's almost twice as much as what I paid. Thanks but no thanks.

Where the hell do you see that? The deal I'm hoping to pick up the weekend is a 40D, grip, nifty fifty, 430 ex, and a few extra batteries and cf cards for $850. If you're patient there are plenty of good deals out there.

This is on my local craigs list. I'm not buying a camera that I can't hold and feel from across the world, no matter how reputable a website is. I've learned better being on ebay for over a decade.

Thanks for proving my point. Add a kit lense or any lense that's worth a damn and it's at least $1000. This is my first DSLR, and first time taking pictures with one. I don't even know what this 'soccer mom' camera can do, let alone a camera that's twice as good.

Yes, I wish I could have upgraded to the XS or Xsi. I couldn't afford those.

you remind me of me when i first started. totally ignorant.

a kit lens is not $200. a kit lens is also shit. you quickly realize they blow and sell it.

if you want, get the damn 18-55 nikon kit lens for like $75. you do realize you are arguing something stupid right? i'm telling you this for your own benefit. in a few months you're going to realize how much you wish you had a more capable body

    stop. you're wasting your time.

This is one of those things that you have to figure out on your own.

Kind of like how all girls are whores. No one ever wants to believe that their gf takes it in the pooper until you send them pics...

In a few months I'll be taking wonderful photos and enjoying a huge added benefits over a point and shoot sd1000. Then we can talk about the 'prosumer' cameras, in the mean time I have plenty to learn.

I do appreciate your input though.

Dude, not everyone needs a prosumer-level camera. For most people, even having a Rebel is way overkill. Let the man enjoy his new toy, in the future if he wants to upgrade to a prosumer level, so be it.
