Was having a good day on the track, had jogged for a good while, then moved on to sprints.

Halfway through the first sprint theres a loud ass pop and my fucking right hamstring explodes in pain. Hooray for re-injuring myself. This is only about the 4th time this has happened. The main injury is in my right hamstring, but the left one is a little sore now too.

Yes I stretched and warmed up. Right now I've got ice on it and I'm about to start popping Advil like candy.

Looks like tomorrows deadlift session might have to be put on hold.

Yeah at least I didn't tear it.

This all started a few years ago when I was running outside in the cold and hadn't warmed up properly. Because I was a dumbass I decided to sprint downhill and fucked it up hardcore. It hasn't been the same since then.

I'm hoping it will be like last time and will just be sore for a few days then relatively back to normal.

After I finish icing it I'm gonna go sit in the hot tub for a few minutes, then repeat the cycle. Weeeeee.

Hopefully he's just sore for a bit like you say.Guess its time to layoff the deads/squats for a bit to let it heal.

Cave, I have a serious question for you. WHen you do leg curls or GHR's if you have a ghr, which way do your feet turn as you get tired? In or out? With that many hamstring pulls it screams imbalance in the biceps femoralis. Porbably the inner is weaker than the outer, as well as some glute minor imbalance. I have dealt with this myself and worked with several larger athletes that had this problem.

Could very well be the case. I'll have to check and see which way my feet turn when I do GHR's because I've never really paid attention to that before.

I only pull it when I do hardcore sprints, no other exercise seems to really bother it, although I have tweaked it deadlifting but that only happened once.

It's my outer hamstrings that are fucked up though.

^^^ Could be that too, but I originally messed it up by not warming up properly and running too damn fast downhill in the cold. Since then its been easy to re-injure since I dont know if these things ever fully heal 100%.

I wish I had my bottle of Celebrex here. I'm about to sit in some hot ass water for a while and see if that helps them loosen up some.

What's weird about today is I stretched like a mofo, ran 2.5 laps around the track, then walked another lap for a warmup before doing any sprints.

did you stretch after you did the running and warmup lap? i've heard you're not supposed to stretch while you're cold so they advise to warm up first, then stretch

yep, I am the victim of 2 different pulls running 40's. Both outer. I fixed it by doing extra leg extensions with my heel pointed out. Chances are you have a weaker inner belly than outer, Charles Poliquin is where I got the idea orginally.

flex magazine with jay culter on the cover (not sure if it was this month or last month) had a leg routine in there and it specified how to hit the different parts of the hamstrings by adjusting the way your feet are positioned. might be worth it to check it out cavefish :dunno:

 I'll see what I can do.

You said leg extensions with your heels pointed out, did you mean leg curls? I'll probably do some light leg curls to get more blood flowing tomorrow, I don't know if I can handle GHR's right now.

So while doing leg curls I should point my toes towards each other?
