13 weeks later, I am now home from basic training! I'm on my 10 day leave now, then i'll go back for SOI.

My friends are throwing me a party so i'm going to head to that....leave some comments so we can compare stories and stuff like that. (went to MCRD SD)

    Congratulations Marine.

We heard you broke your leg or something, how long were you in MRP for?

What was your PFT score going in and what was your final PFT score at the the end, how much did it improve? Did you lose or gain any weight in boot camp?

If you could go back and do it all over again, what would you have done differently to prepare yourself?

    Any advice? :x:

It was a stress fracture! My foot got hurt really bad on the inital PFT, so I had to limp everywhere and my foot was blue, but I didn't want to be a pussy and I definately didn't want to go to MRP, so I limped on it for a long time and it finally went away around the time of the Crucible (thank God).

I was in bad shape going into boot camp, and my run time was/is horrible. When I went in, I could do 6 pullups, 55 crunches in 2 minutes, and 3 miles in 29 minutes. After phase 1, I could do 11 pullups, but then after being up North, all of our pullups went down. For final PFT, I could do 7 pullups, 130 crunches in 2 minutes, and 3 miles in 23:00. That is quite a bit below average, so if anyone plans to go in, get in good shape before you go in.

I haven't weighed myself yet. None of my friends recognize me, i'll hit you up on that later.

Good to hear the stress fracture healed up, we all got worried and thought you were going to be there for an extra few weeks in MRP.

Your initial PFT score makes me feel a lot better about my PFT score, mine right now is almost identical to your initial PFT score, but i'm only getting 3-4 pullups and about 80 crunches.

I know you bulked up pretty big and put on a lot of muscle before shipping off, did you lose a lot of muscle in boot camp?

Also, when do you find out what your specific 03xx MOS is going to be? Once you get to SOI?

Again man, congratulations i'm really happy for you. Hopefully i'll be in your shoes pretty soon :bigthumb:.

Did you have to buy your dress blues at the MCRDSD uniform store yourself, or were they issued to you?

Did you have any bigfodee-like experiences?

Congrats, don't stop PTing at home. MCT is harder.

I don't see how bootcamp is harder. You always get 8 hrs of sleep in bootcamp, never happens at MCT. The humps are longer and you're going from a little Alice pack to the MOLLE system. Warm meals 3 times a day, and a shower every night. The only physicaly demanding part of bootcamp is the quarterdeck/pit. :dunno:

I don't know about you but bootcamp felt cushy compared to MCT.

I don't know if it's happened or not but they're not going to be issuing dress blue trousers or white covers anymore. Instead all the kahaki shirts they get are creightons.

Talk about a good fuckin' deal.

I hope SOI is fun ---- as long as it isn't as intense as boot camp. I mean, I could give a fuck less about the physical shit --- after I thought I was about to die on the 8 mile hike with my 1 pack, I saw my drill instructor run past me with 3 packs on (somehow he managed to put 2 on his back and 1 on the front) ---- and he was fucking running. After that we realized "if he can do 3, we can do 1" and everything got easy.

That made The Crucible turn into a joke for me. Some dumbasses ate their 3 MRE's in 1 day, and were bitching when they were starving on the end of the 2nd night. Some dumbasses, after I gave them the advice, still decided to NOT sleep with their MRE's inside their sleeping system while we were up on Oscar 1. After they got their shit jacked, they were feeling pretty dumb.

Anyways, can someone shed some light on how they thought SOI was?

Oh believe me, i'm a much bigger shitbag. During the Crucible, when we were supposed to be learning teamwork, a guy got angry with me and got loud and blah blah and I lost control and punched him in the face, so I got inventoried and almost dropped. Instead, they graduated me with a 4.0/4.0 pro/con mark (worst you can get) --- i'm worried about that. Hopefully since i'm a reservist it won't be that bad and I can just get them up by doing good.

I know what you mean. We did a 6.8 mile ruck in AF boot camp and I thought that was difficult at the time. Last year I did a 100 mile ruck in Nijmegen, Netherlands and now I laugh at myself for ever thinking 6.8 miles was hard.

    But anyway, congradulations! :bigthumb: `
