Went to GNC- thats the only place around here and I didnt want to order online for my first. I felt so uncomfortable there- the only people in there were a couple of very guyish girls and a couple of very guyish guys. Anyways- got some milk chocolate flavor. Had one with breakfast this morning. It was kind of hard to get down- I almost threw up half way :o So I should have 2 of these a day- I usually have some cereal and then work out for 45 min. Then off to work. Shoudl I have it before or after working out? I did it before this morning just to get it over with :mamoru: And is this stuff going to rip my systems apart? I didnt think about that until after I drank it. I hope I dont shart myself at work or something :eek3:

I got what the F&N gods told me to get-

    100% ON Whey Gold Standard

Serving size= 32g which is 24g protein. I just mixed it in a glass of water :hs: I am trying to keep calories to a minimum so I figured that was the way to go. I dont know price I am sure I got ripped off- $17.99 for 2 lbs.

Mix a scoop with about 8 oz of water. A good shaker makes it a nice non-lumpy consistancy. Whey is best as a post workout protein as it is very quickly absorbed. It's also been shown to cause a mild insulin spike in turn causing anabolism, which is what we desire after a heavy weight training session.

We forgive you for being a girl:love:

Also, in general, avoid fruit flavors. Vanilla, chocolate, and mint chocolate are pretty hard to screw up.

And the insulin spike- I have low blood sugar issues- is that going to screw me up?

I had seen that- but I was worried I wanted to try it out in a small amount first- instead of investing $40 and then never using it again :mamoru:

I know the details of ON whey, I've been using the same stuff for ~4 years now...

You did get a bit ripped off. Well, a lot ripped off actually. You can find it for ~25 shipped online, for a 5lb bucket.

How did the mixing go? Chunky?

One of the best things you can do is get yourself a shaker cup. GNC has those as well. They blend the protein MUCH better. It definitly helps with the taste.

without knowing your bodyweight/fat, one scoop should be fine for a typical girl, so I wouldn't worry about that too much...

Why are you taking it? If it's just to up your protein percentage and calorie ratio, then breakfast is fine, but if it's aimed more towards muscle building and recovery, it's best taken immedietly after working out. (there are theories on just *how* important it is to take it right after working out, but they all agree that at worst, it's just as good as any other time, but at best, the timing is hugely important!)

    Generally no.

The ideal situation is to spike insulin real high immediately post workout with whey and fast acting carbs. In an hour, after the spike has fallen considerably, have a meal with essentially the same macro breakdown but with a complex carbohydrate and a "chewy" protein source. This should level you out for most of the day, causing your body to be anabolic when you want it to be and not just trying to store all the excess you take in as fat.

Same here. I gave mine to some annoying guy I work with that would never stop asking me for lifting advice - then do the opposite of what I suggested - then complain when he didn't get results.

I never bothered to ask if he liked it... :mamoru:

Well it came out a little chucky- which I think is why it was so hard to get down. The shake cup sounds like a good idea- thank you.

This is why I am trying it out- advice from the F&N crew

Milk is ok if you're looking to up your daily protein intake.

But the proteins in Milk are WAAAY slower digesting than the ones in Whey, so it slows down the total absorbtion time of the whey.

if you're taking it as a post workout shake, fast absorbtion is the #1 reason you drink whey. Taking it with milk would completely destroy the whole purpose...

I think you'll be fine if your only have one scoop, plus milk adds casein protein (slower digesting) :bigthumb:
