Went to one of my local shops that had them in stock and bought one. All the problems I have been hearing here and elsewhere scurred me awayfrom the Lee. I still have a Lee 1000 on order and will sell it when it gets here.

I walked out thinking "Damn, I could have bought another XD for this price." I know, I know. After buying 250 rounds at academy the other day and it was $9 more than 2 weeks ago I felt a little better.

Anyone want to buy my NIB Lee Pro 1000 when it gets here? :x:

    P.S. My wife hates you AB13. ;)

I'd take it, but I need something that can reload stuff longer than .223

what was the local place selling them for?

Their website will sell you one with a caliber conversion kit and a die (which at a quick glance at their stuff is all you need to get started, set for $474.89, including shipping.

As for dies, Dillon Dies are bank, they're nice, but I wouldn't know because my Lee dies have never failed me. Get your dies from Natchezss.com or something.

Has anybody priced ammo lately? God damn. Do they change these prices hourly? Cheapest, brass cased .45 I could find on Ammoman was $33/100. When the fuck did it go over $30? .40 is rapidly approaching the $30 mark. Best I could find was $25/100.

Maybe it's because I never really price .45, but damn I don't remember it being that high.

Reloading components have skyrocketed as well. It's getting to the point where I'm not even gonna be able to afford to reload.

Got the press plus a 9mm reloading die for $458 OTD. I thought it was a good deal. Almost got the Square Deal B kit for just over $300 but felt it would be limiting due to the fact that it cannot do rifle. The one thing I liked about it that the 650 has is the auto indexing. Nit picky maybe but i like that feature.

It pinched buying it cause I was socking away money for my next pistol but it will even out eventually.

Now I need to decide on powder and I'll be set.

If shipping is included that isn't bad, 395 is what dillon charges before shipping, well its for items over 400 bucks so I might have to buy something in addition, any options you for recommend starting out beyond what is included with the basic press?

Lee dies kits for pistol and rifle work perfectly fine with a dillon press I take it, dies plus the dillon powder station.

Always good to support your local dealers, especially if the price difference is so minimal.

None in my eyes offer up a significant advantage, but that's just me, I don't think any of them are necessities. But that's just preference. I can tell you what "other's" have deemed necessary. I like to keep things simple unless the reward is significant. I'm cheap like that.

    Others have recommeded:

-strong mount (I like the level of my press because I sit down when I reload, others prefer standing, purely preference)
-bullet tray (I just pull up the box of bullet next to the press, no difference for me, not worth the $40, but again I'm simple like that)
-roller lever (I prefer the ball lever of the stock dillon)

What I would highly recommend picking up from Benos's shop:

    -slide glide
-check out his video section, theres a DVD on reloading for competition, good learning dvd for reloader. And my personal favorite DVD series for competitive shooting, the Matt Burkett videos from pistol, AR and Shotgun training material. As well as Saul Kirsch.

But I don't think he'll make you pay for shipping if you are that close. I think he'll ship for free anyhow. Which is the cheapest place on line to get them because their pricing is locked everywhere. No tax, no shipping = winards

I really like my production rate because any faster I don't know that i could maintain a high level of quality per bullet.

I thought Dennis said that the 550 could load most rifle stuff too?
