wasn't sure where to ask this, but I'm looking for a welding torch and a cutting torch? or is it the same thing? Anyways, thats what I'm looking for. Anyone have any idea on how I could get one?

I'm just looking for a small one, nothing huge and fancy. I wanted to start learning how to weld and cut tubing. Trying to make my own 5hp go-kart :naughty:. Doing a quick google search I found a Lincoln SP-135T MIG welder for like $440. Is that what I'll need to start welding and cutting? Any help would greatly be appreciated. Houston, TX preferably, but I'm open to suggestions. :)

    They are two different things.

Welding joins metal (unless you burn through)

    Cutting separates it (duh)

The way I would suggest you go about it is look into a community college for a basic welding program. Great source of info and a good place to learn technique.

MIG welding (commonly called wire feed) is one of the easiest types to learn.
