I have an aopen controller less 56 k pci modem. I have a creative soundblaster audigy2 , 24 bit, pci. I install the sound card, no drivers in the box. download the drivers , win2k , and play a sound. computer locks up, so i have to hard reset. Start up again, this time try to connect to the internet, and computer locks up again. Forgot that there was a cable running from modem to sound card , disconnected ti ( for playing handshake through speakers I guess)
Tryed dialing in again, same problem, had to hard reset. Couple times i had to boot in safemode.
THen, i go into device manager, disable the sound card and the 'unimodem half duxplex audio device" and everything works fine. :wtf:
    any thoughts?

Also, amd Athlon 800 , need cpu temp program , mobo supports it, and info on possibly overclocking it if I get everything else fixed.

If the mobo has on-board audio, make sure to disbale it in the BIOS

Need cpu temp program, temp as in temperature?
Try MBProbe free and just sits in the system tray. You might have to adjust the warning settings on the first run, the default warning temperture level is a little low.
Also give info on fan speeds and voltage.
