I am basically looking for one of two things:

    1) Software that will allow me to log weights exercises, and based on my results automatically schedule the next session.

    or

    2) Information on how to figure this out so I can code the thing myself.

I already have reasonable software for diet and general exercise recording (dietpower), but I am looking for something a bit more specific.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I use MS Excel to log all of my stuff. I print the following worksheet with everything blank, and I fill it in as the week goes on. WHen the week is up I type all my stuff into this file:

Note that those numbers where from when I just started. :hs:

pretty sweet dude. if youre savvy enough you should make some sort of coorelation chart with each exercise and the amount that you benched, squat, dl the next week. itll help you figure out which lifts help you the most and which ones do nothing for you

I may at some point, but this is probably fine for now. I'm still getting some awesome noob gains, I can easily get +5lbs/week on my big 3, and depending how much energy I have on any given day I can add an extra 10.

make it. It would be kinda cool, if you had a program with all the exercises and which muscles they were for. And you programed in when you wanted to rotate exercises, like incline heavy for 3 weeks, and rotate tri exercises every 4 or something. Sounds cool but papper probably works.

What he's talking about works better for a Westside-ish type routine where you need to find out your indicators.

Okay, I got a basic log system, now anyone know where I can find out:

    1) What exercises to do. (I have access to free weights and a bench)
    2) What weights to start at (I used to leave it up to the trainer when I actually had cash)

I'm thinking along the lines of :

    Day 1: Legs
    Day 2: Chest
    Day 3: Shoulders
    Day 4: Back
    Day 5: Arms

    Or should I do a 6-day workout ?

What sort of Set X Reps ?

    Thanks fo any help

Looks good. just a quick question

    1) It has pullsups, I have no access to a machine (and I probably can't lift my body anyway) - What is a good alternative?

I'm not sure what kind of equipment you have available. You can get a doorjam pullup bar and some bands for assistance for probably <$30. If not, just do your bent over rows and barbell pulldowns. Or if you have a machine, lat pulldowns are awesome.

Fucking a. I meant pullover. They're not as good pullups obviously, but they'll have to do for now until I get some bands.

    Pulldown, pullthrough, pullover :mb:.

    Bumping an old thread :noes:

Thanks for the pic of your spreadsheet pinch, i just recreated it for myself. How are you doing the graph of your big three? Do you have it pull the info from old worksheets or something?

Use the chart wizard and just select your big 3 data as the source.

I'm wondering how he's getting the data from old worksheets - his graph has more than 2 weeks worth of data on it.

Can the chart wizard allow me to pull info from other files?

Oh, yeah, you can pull data from other sheets. I believe they have to be in the same directory though.

    EDIT: How-to: http://www.mcse.ms/archive144-2003-12-208877.html

I posted this a while ago, but this might help you out. Here is the excel sheet I made:

Basically, it keeps track of the info for 4 weeks, then has a statistics page which calculates weekly/month max/average for each exercise and puts it in graph and chart form. Currently its set up for christophers routine, but you could change the exercises if you needed too.
