Every now and then in the gym I'll see some guy lifting weights in sweatpants, a shirt and a thick sweatshirt/hoodie. It's usually a younger, smaller guy, which makes me think he might just be self concious about his lack of massiveness, but I just see it so often that I'm starting to think there's an actual purpose behind training in a sweatsuit.

Is the sweatsuit to induce sweating and fatloss or some other beneficial purpose, or is it the douchebagery I suspect it is?

maybe he is a wrestler or some other type of athlete that needs to make weight.:dunno:

Also some people do it inorder to sweat more to "detoxicfy" themselves.

The most odd thing is when I see a guy in a beenie, I know he must be sweating like a mofo in that thing. Do they think it looks cool?

There's a guy at my gym that keeps coming in to use the stationary bikes wearing a racing jumpsuit, like you'd wear at the track... helmet, gloves, everything. Apparently he's trying to get used to the feeling of working up a sweat inside the suit. Very bizarre.

I just read this thread title and pictured that overweight baseball player with high blood pressure, running windsprints in a sweatsuit in the heat of a Florida summer after taking 100mg of ephedra and keeling over.

He wouldn't be losing fat, he'd just be dropping water. As someone else said, he may be cutting weight for a match or fight or something. Normal people shouldn't do it.
