I am trying to lose about 40 pounds, and am doing some research on different diets. I have my workout plan figured out, but as far as the diet goes I have read about lots of different diets, but think i would have trouble implementing them by myself without detailed menus and shopping lists. This is where ediets comes in, I have heard they do this, provide custom menus and shopping lists, at a fairly good price, compared to what it would cost to go to a professional nutritionist. I am looking for something along the lines of south beach diet.

Does anyone have any experience with this site, any recemondations of other sources of this information, etc.

#1 Don't do fad diets, you won't keep the weight off
#2 Read the sticky, use fitday.com to track
#3 If your workout plan doesn't include lifting, it sucks

if you really want to spend money on having someone develop a diet and training plan for you, i would go with Chuck Rudolph. http://www.dietsbychuck.com, or if you contact him through Derek Charlebois' forum on bodybuilding.com, you can get a special package at a discounted rate.

or for that matter, Derek does diet and training plans using chuck's principles, for less money. i think he charges $100 for 8 weeks.

wow, thanks for all the advice - I post so much in ot I wasn't expecting much help but you guys are hella good - I'm at 205 and my goal weight is 165, I plan on lifting 3 days a week and swimming 2, I'm a college student with a 25hr a week job so I unavoidably sit on my ass all day, and have difficulty eating regularly and not even close to a healthy diet, but I know I have to take care of this now, so i'm dedicated to making it work.

Werd, what's your major? I was in ME there for 2 years. Was so much easier to workout everyday when the gym was within walking distance
