as the title says, I am looking to try and put together a wedding and reception playlist.

the bride to be and I do not want the traditional, "here comes the bride" song."

we also want to have a good playlist for our reception. we are open to just about all types of music. just think "appropriate for a wedding."

    Country
    Classic Rock
    Pop
    some Hip/Hop or Rap

*realize that there will be some older people and some bible thumpers LOL! we don't want to offend them too badly! :mamoru:

Couple of songs I have considered in general, to give you an idea of what type of music we are looking to(reception is a bit more liberal, there WILL be dancing to country, hip/hop, rock, etc...) :

Brad Paisley- "She's Everything" "Waitin on a Woman," and "Alcohol"
    Queen- "Best Friend"
Alicia Keys "If I ain't got You"
    Santana/Rob Thomas "Smooth"
AC/DC- "You Shook me All night Long"

    thanks OT:bigthumb:

There are thousands of lists of these kinds of songs online. I know because my sister and I looked at them for her wedding.

I already told my bf we are walking in to "Motown Philly" by Boyz 2 Men

are you guys getting a DJ or just making your own playlist to play through the reception?

If you get a DJ, they should have different categories of lists for the different "feels" you want for the reception

if not, then i would check out theknot.com for some ideas. You can also go to itunes and type in "wedding music" or "reception music" and it will pull up all kinds of things. pull out all your cds and see what songs you guys both really like.

as for the actual wedding music, Canon is a beautiful piece for her to walk down the aisle to, though its pretty popular these days

Yeah, you make your own wedding CD if you want that'll be included whenever you want, but the DJ will play what song he wants to play the rest of the time.

The last wedding I went to I can't even recall what song was played while the bride came down. And I have never been to one that played the wedding march song you referred to. Just pick good stringers and they will show you what they play.

Well I edit wedding videos for my job. I have seen over 200 weddings and am COMPLETELY desensitized to them. As long as its not the ymca/electric slide/soulja boy (wtf dj) you are all set :big grin: althought the ymca rules if the dj has costumes and there are hot bitches

LOL, yeah we got a DJ and he wants to know what we want and all.

I love ZZ Top, it has alrady been discussed that rock WILL be the main type of music play, cause we both love some rock!

But we are looking into a bit of everything.
