One of the owners of the wedding planner business that I work with for most of my weddings wants me to shoot her wedding... I'm not sure how to price her.

    Here's her want list:
Normally, I'd charge $1500-2000 for the wedding shoot, market price for the book, and since the engagement shoot is going to be a 2nd day of shooting + 1.5 hours driving each way, probably another $5-750 for that...

I'm thinking of offering her the whole thing for $1500 + market price of the book...

How bad am I getting ripped on that? I'm thinking that you don't fuck with the people who give you business, and she's been giving me a lot of business lately... 5+ weddings for this fall/winter, and 2 for next spring already....

    thoughts?

Above all, I'd let her know the real cost of your services.

Then, you can choose to give her a discount or not, but definitely let her know you're doing it. Bill her for the full cost and then at the bottom put a "-$1000" discount tag.

I don't know anything about pricing weddings but if she's a good business partner I doubt she'd expect you to just give her a bunch of free work. She's a professional and I bet she's willing to pay for your professional services. Right?

Let her know how much she is saving and how much better she will be for using you.

Set your price low now, and it'll be hard to get her to pay more in the future.

I misunderstood, I thought it was just another wedding that she was booking, not her own personal wedding.

I know, I was just kidding... :naughty:

My average right now for the weddings I book through her is around 2250, with no engagement session, a couple 'free' prints, and a cheap but nice book. (i'm taking it on the chin with the books right now to make sure people get the books in their hands so they can show off my work the way I want it seen... So far it's gotten me 2 referrals, but I haven't booked either one yet... fingers crossed...)

Thats actually a good point - she sees what I charge her clients, and although they're also getting a deal since i'm working through her, is the price good enough in relation to what i'm charging her clients?

No harm in this. She knows what you normally charge, and also knows that you'd be giving her a hell of a deal, with quality goods.

Just based on your pricing your cutting her 50% off. To me that kinda looks like you jacked up your price to show her your giving her a good deal.

I would charge her more or give her a percentage off before you talk to them define the price after you have the "sit down"

Something like I`ll knock off 35% for what ever you decide..........

price isn't jacked... I booked that one 2 weeks ago. For June 12, 2010...

I am giving her 50% off, since she gets me tons of business...

She just replied back, it's all but booked. Gonna meet up with her after labor day with a contract and to hammer down the book they want.

    :)
