say goodbye to your belt carlos.

the ufc 170 div is :noes: :run: :eek3:

alves, gsp, sometimes bj, kos, fitch, maybe shields, and now carlos.
and the barely relevant hughes and karo as well. :hsd:

I don't really like the idea of WEC losing weight classes. I think it should be used more as a UFC minor league kind of thing. You do well you get a shot in the UFC, if not you stay in the WEC.

having a matching weight class, kinda makes their champs pointless. condit was good enough to compete effectively in the ufc and was wasting time 'defending' his belt in wec. id rather see condit up against someone else clearly in the top 8 than against someone on the fringe of the top 20 in the world.

with that said, the ufc/mma also needs to add/change a few weight classes.
    (150, 160, 170, 180, 190, 205, 225, 225+ for everyone else) :hsugh:

add 145 to the UFC and make the WEC a farm league with all classes and no belts. Your belt is getting promoted/

    good point.

smaller classes but add womens too.

SO make it a league of 115 - 145 and women.

i thought 125 was the smallest weight class in mma?

but the ufc could do a 145.

faber, brown, leo garcia all could come back to the ufc.
and some that are currently 155 would definitely drop and be very competitive.
roger :hsugh:, tyson, edgar, florian :hsugh:, hermes, lauzon, dos anjos, aurelio(?), and some of the recent 155TUFers.

This needed to happen a while ago. I have no interest in seeing Condit/Larsen II.

It will also give the WEC more fights to show at 155, 145, and 135 - so we don't get great fights like McCullough/Cerrone stashed away on the undercard.

meh I think splitting middleweight to 180 and 190 is a bad idea. Theres a logic to the way the weight classes progress.

    125, 135, 145, 155, 170, 185, 205, 230
    ...+10 +10 +10 +15. +15. +20. +25

But I agree with changing heavyweight to 225 (maybe 230). The more I think about it the more I feel like as the sport grows, dropping the heavyweight limit and adding openweight will be necessary.
