    Who has one?

I'm trying to figure out how to setup a splash page that lets you choose the blog or website. anyone's setup to do that?

    can I see?

wanna send me the files so I can change it up a bit and use it?

    :x: :wavey:

    Yeah, I know.

I'm trying to figure out a halfway decent way to do that, but I don't really see one. I mean it's not like I can get the blog to work from within the website, and i'm not sure how to get this stupid template to allow me to throw a link that will open a new window, instead of navigating away from the site...

in your anchor tag add the text
    Code:
    <a href="http://blog.blah.com/" target="_new">

the target new part forces the browser to open the link in a new window

How about creating a homepage with your work and in the footer, the titles of your recent articles which you have posted?

Splash pages are VERY frowned upon in web design.

I'm making up a web portfolio at the moment and I'm going to include my recent blog posts, tweets, flickr photos and recently listened to tracks in the footer of the page. It's a good way of letting your visitors know who you are and creating a connection with them.

The majority of photography portfolio websites place photos on a website and expect people to remember them. This is great if your photos can do the talking, but if people think you're a nice cool approachable guy (you are, aren't you?) and that you take really good photos, you'll be a lot more memorable.

    Here's an example: http://www.trevorclarkphoto.com/

No reason why you have to choose, an rss plugin can show recent blog posts along side the gallery, and they can follow them if they want.

That site is fucking baller. I may want to change things up a bit and have a portfolio site like that, and a link on the site that eventually leads to my smugmug for people to purchase proofs and what-not instead of just going to my smugmug for everything.

so... did any of you guys check out my site with the blog section up?

What do you think? Better ideas for integration?

Eventually, I'll redo the whole site to have everything included better, like the site Joey posted, but for now, how does this work?

while i might agree with your statement, the example you used to show this is somewhat of a failure, in that respect. It's too cluttered. It makes me think of the offspring of Myspace, and National Geographic (semi-professional, but cluttered as all hell.)

agreed. you have to keep in mind that most AD/AB don't have a lot of time and aren't interested in navigating a very cluttered website (example above). keep it clean, simple and easy to navigate, show me the pics.

I think I want to re-direct my customers attention to a nice flash site (without music) as my portfolio, rather than have my domain go directly to my smugmug site. then direct them to my smugmug site with a "Customer Access" link or something from the new flash site.

Some of these sites are so nice. I'm not very proficient in flash as I am other areas. I can modify though. Anyonw know of a good site to buy simple, yet awesome templates?
