First let me say that I am not a professional at this by any means, so I know my design isn't too great. Anyway, I started to work on this last night. It was all done in Photoshop.

I'm trying to make the page functional. What I want to do is have each link in the menu bar open in the black designated area. From what I understand, the best way to do this is CSS. The problem is I don't know anything about CSS. :o

I'm reading up on it right now but if anyone could help me I would really appreciate it. I've made some changes to the design since posting this but wouldn't mind supplying the PSD to anyone who is willing to help.

If this is a lot more involved than I think then I wouldn't mind paying someone for help. While we are at that, I would like to add a music player to the bottom right of the page (so it isn't interrupted by users browsing) so maybe we could work something out. :hsd:

Any and all help is very much appreciated :x:

    A few quick remarks.

I imagine that you're going to be trying to generate some sort of business through your website, so first we need to optimize for SEO. That being said, a lot more content and linking. Google Analytics is a great free tool for your site.

Second, I do like the design and I think the look and feel matches what the site is going to be about.

I'd be more than happy to help you code/build it. Just shoot me a PM if you're interested!

Yeah, kind of a weird fade there. That was a random image taken of me in a hotel room so my legs were cut off. Need to get some pro shots to replace it with. :hs:

You're trying to make parts of your navigation bar linkable? But you're having trouble because it's all one image? You can do that with pure css. It's called image mapping. Do you use dreamweaver? Once you input the achor html links and the css code, you can open up your html document in it and resize the links in design mode. Then it'll do the specific width and heights for you.

    Check this link:

Yeah, image maps are -not- a good idea.

Just slice the image up in photoshop, and get someone to code it up for you.

using css sprites for navigation is actually awesome.

    - cuts down the number of http requests for the page, making it load quicker
    - apple, google, yahoo and tons of other large websites use sprites

Oh, that's what I was talking about. I guess I got the image map term switched around because I just started using Dreamweaver like a week ago :mamoru:.

Just for the record, my problem isn't slicing the page, it's having the content of each link show up in the designated black box directly under the link bar. I could do it with an iframe, but don't want to use one of those. CSS is the next best way as far as I know, except I don't know any CSS. :hs:
